The Southerners are one of the teams that compete in the Bangkok Cricket League, a professionally run league that has been operated under expert guidance since 2002. It has developed into a very challenging league, with a high quality of players with the numerous teams throughout the 3 grades played in Bangkok. The Premier Grade (40 Over competition), A Grade (25 Over competition) and B Grade (25 Over Competition) is played from November to June. The league is run voluntarily and independantly by a dedicated group of people in Bangkok and is completely self funded. The Bangkok Cricket League is the largest in the Kingdom of Thailand and is offically recognised by the SAT and the CAT.They welcome anyone interested in playing cricket in Bangkok to come along and join the fun in the sun, and play cricket in the land of smiles.

Guinness 20/20 Challenge
This 20/20 tournament is for the enjoyment of local teams with the main aim to raise funds to be given directly to regional cricketing centers. The 2008 Guinness 20/20 Challenge helped raise 20,000THB which was donated to Petchabun Junior Cricket as well as a 5,000THB donation was given to junior cricket in Khon Kaen. Awaiting dates for 2009..

Three Thai teams win through to the Cup competition

More glorious weather graced Horseshoe Point Resort Cricket Ground as the tournament plot thickened following action and results on the field, and the positions going into Round Two were determined.

Some excellent cricket and massive hitting was applauded throughout the day as the eight teams comprising the second half of the draw completed their three first round matches today.

Dhaka Cricket Club from Bangladesh emerged as the pick of the competitive teams on Day Two of this first Pattaya International Cricket Sixes. They enjoyed three comfortable wins over the Thai Spirits, the Bounty Buccaneers from Malaysia, and one of the local favourites the Pattaya Colts. Rubayat, Topash and Hasan were the pick of the Dhaka CC players.

Also hailing from Bangladesh, Narayangang CC impressed too as they triumphed over Ios Malakas, the Bangkok Stars and the Pattaya Stallions, thereby securing their place in the Cup competition.

Match of the day was the clash between the Thai Spirits and Dhaka CC. Batting first the Spirits put a modest 66/2 on the board, Titash retiring on 30 runs, and then proceeded to defend the total tenaciously in an excellent bowling and fielding display. Dhaka narrowly won the match by reaching their target with one ball to spare after losing 4 wickets, Zia and Hansie being the pick of the Thai Spirits bowlers with 2 victims each.

The top eight placed teams following Round One enter the Cup competition with the next eight ranked sides battling for places in Plate and Shield divisions. Three of the teams earning a berth to compete in the Cup are from Thailand: Thai Spirits, Pattaya Stallions and the Ali Baba Warriors.

Players of the Day for Day Two were selected at the close of play by the tournament panel. Topash of Dhaka CC was the 'Outback Best Bowler', Wally ‘Whale’ Pohl of Ios Malakas won the 'Outback Best Batsman' award and 'ACST Player of the Day' was Roger Lindo of the Bangkok Stars.

Day Three of the Pattaya International Cricket Sixes will get off to a cracking start at 10am Thursday with juicy match ups between the Warathais from New South Wales versus the CBB Postels and the Perth Postels versus the Custom Cockatoos. The four day tournament concludes Saturday.

Entry to the ground for spectators is free and refreshments are available.

Trevor Chappell, Ex Australia Test Player to Support Tournament

The first cricket tournament ever to be held in Pattaya, Thailand, the Pattaya International Cricket Sixes 2010, will be contested by sixteen teams from around the world when play gets underway at the new cricket ground at Horseshoe Point Resort on 7th April.

The four day Pattaya Sixes (7 - 10th April) is organised by the Asian Cricket Sixes Tour, the leading organiser and promoter of award winning cricket tournaments across the Asia Pacific region which also includes Hong Kong, Shanghai, Phuket, Singapore and New South Wales.

Cricket teams competing in the Pattaya Sixes at Thailand's newest cricket venue will be flying in from India, Bangladesh, Australia, Malaysia, Kuwait and even Greece. Thai cricket will also be well represented by five teams including two from Pattaya CC.

"It's a fantastic turn out of teams for this inaugural Pattaya Sixes," said ACST Chairman Michael Maher.

"Horseshoe Point is an incredible resort, Pattaya an exciting place to visit and we're really looking forward to a wonderful tournament which we expect to become one of our most popular events on the circuit," Mr Maher continued.

"There are some strong teams coming," said Tournament Director Ian Liddell. "The competition is likely to be hot, but the emphasis of the tournament is on 'friendship through cricket,'" he continued.

The Sixes is supported by the newly formed Pattaya Cricket Club. Funds will be raised during the tournament and it's social functions to support junior cricket development in the area.

Former Australian Test player and one of the famous Chappell brothers, Trevor Chappell, will play and participate in the tournament.

Overview:

As an enthusiastic cricketer running Bangkok Stars cricket club and playing cricket in Bangkok Cricket league always dreamed about having a cricket academy where we could teach young kids learn cricket and a place for Adult cricketers to improve their cricketing skills.
The birth of Bangkok Cricket Academy on 15th Nov,2008 has added up a great support for cricket lovers in Bangkok where some cricket volunteers like Adrian Salter and others offered to help me in running this project with one good aim"Development of cricket".BCA is located on a private owned land of 2200 Sq. meters and it is just 12 km. from Sathron(Taksin) bridge.

The decline of the Aussie cricket team is finally complete and it is now time for a new team to replace them, just as they did with the West Indian team of the 80's and 90's. No team can sustain the loss of greats such as Gilchrist, Warne, Langer, Mc Grath, in a short space of time and expect to remain at the same level. Their replacements are not as good. The proof of the pudding can be seen in the recent tour to India ( a 2-0 series loss for Australia.) More of the same in the Ashes 2009 tour to England?
